AC Milan fear ban from all European competitions

  • Jordan Russell (@JordRuss96)
AC Milan have failed to convince UEFA that their plan to meet Financial Fair Play regulations is a viable one. According to Marca, the governing body will reject the voluntary agreement submitted by managing director Marco Fassone in Nyon two weeks ago. That is despite Fassone claiming to be “moderately optimistic” of success at the time.

UEFA are said to be unconvinced by the club’s situation after ownership was transferred from Silvio Berlusconi to Yonghong Li. Even the commercial development plan failed to allay those fears at all. The Spanish newspaper claims that the Rossoneri risk exclusion from all European competitions next season because of their failure to comply with the rules. This would be the worst-case scenario and remains an improbable outcome.

Instead, it is likely a settlement will be agreed in the same way it was with both Inter and Roma in previous years, where exclusion will be stipulated as the final penalty should they fail to meet the conditions of this agreement.
