AC Milan issue Montella ultimatum

AC Milan have issued an ultimatum to Vincenzo Montella, according to today’s edition of Tuttosport.

The Italian tactician is walking on thin ice after five defeats in the opening 11 Serie A games. The rossoneri need to qualify for the Champions League this season if they want avoid financial problems next season and keep all their big players at the San Siro in the 2017/18 campaign.

Montella has also an exit clause included in his contract. The exit clause allows AC Milan to sack him at the end of the season if he fails to seal a Champions League placement.
The Serie A giants, however, could decide to fire the former Fiorentina manager before June if the report of Tuttosport is to be believed.

The Italian paper claims executives of the San Siro hierarchy have told Montella that the only way to save his job is two win both next clashes against AEK Athens (Europa League) and Sassuolo (Serie A). The future of Montella depends on the next two games, if AC Milan fail to win them both Fassone and Mirabelli will hire manager during the International break.
