London giants Arsenal look set to provide stiff competition to Real Madrid in the race to sign Palmeiras attacking midfielder Alan Guimaraes, if reports are to be believed.

Los Blancos have already signed Alan’s Brazilian teammate Vinicius Junior this past summer and the forward will join the club in the summer of 2019 for a 45 million euros fee.

It was previously reported by Spanish outlet AS that Real Madrid already have a verbal agreement in place with Alan to sign the Brazilian sensation, but it now seems that Arsenal will provide competition to acquire the services of the Brazil U17 star.

Alan started his career at the Sau Paulo youth team, before rejecting the chance to sign for Inter Milan and join Palmeiras instead in 2014.

Real’s move for Alan will be made tough by the fact that they are yet to negotiate about his release clause, which is said to lie in the region of 44 million euros. Arsenal could still take advantage of the situation and make a move before Real sign him.

Alan has been impressive for Brazil in the ongoing FIFA Under 17 World Cup in India, racking up a tally of three assists.
