Arsenal on red-alert as Real Madrid hint at French strikers departure

The future of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is uncertain after reports in Don Balon suggested that the French striker will be shown the door at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

The portal states that the arrival of a world class replacement, such as fellow countryman Kylian Mbappe could see the 29-year-old deemed surplus to requirements at the club, despite the reported imminent departure of Spanish frontman Alvaro Morata.

These latest reports will have no doubt got back to North London with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believed to be a huge admirer of the player. Last summer, the Gunners were close to bringing him to The Emirates but €60M deal failed to materialise after Los Blancos pulled the plug.

Wenger himself has been very vocal about Real’s reported €100M offer for Monaco star Mbappe, claiming that; “No one will spend that much on a player and leave him in the stands”. Arsenal themselves are also believed to be in the hunt for the 18-year-old sensation but even if they fail to land him, they could still come out smelling of roses if it led to Benzema finally making the move to the Premier League.
