    AS Monaco defender reveals reason behind Arsenal snub

    AS Monaco defender Djibril Sidibé has revealed that he would be open to move to Arsenal in the future in an interview released with Foot Mercato. The versatile defender received an offer of the Gunners last summer, but he decided to move to AS Monaco instead. The French defender has told media why he decided to join the Ligue1 giants last summer.

    “Arsenal wanted to sign me in the previous transfer window, they are one of the best clubs in the world and I can confirm that they made an official offer. They’re proposal, however, arrived when I had already decided to move to AS Monaco, they were late and I had already taken my decision.”

    “After the 2015-16 campaign, I was expecting some offers and I was flattered by Arsenal’s interest. At the moment, however, I am only focused on AS Monaco.”

    Sidibé has one goal and one assist in 16 official games with the Monegasques so far this season. The 24-year-old completed a € 15 million switch from Lille last summer.
