Atleti's crisis could push Griezmann to Barca

Atleti's crisis could push Griezmann to Barca

Atletico Madrid are going through a major crisis right now. They need to win two games in a row and score enough to guarantee qualification to the Champions League Round of 16.

Many fear that the team – which finds itself in the same group as Roma and Chelsea – will struggle to make its fifth straight quarter-final in the competition.

One of the reasons behind this is the Colchoneros’ inability to win their last five home games, in their new Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

Another is Antoine Griezmann’s failure to score: stuck on two goals this season, he was booed in the recent Madrid Derby, which ended 0-0.

Fernando Torres has also struggled this season, never scoring in eleven appearances.

Atletico need to beat Roma, and they need Griezmann to return to scoring ways. Otherwise, they may be forced to sell at the end of the season. Unable to sign new players this summer, they are trying to fix things by nabbing Diego Costa and Vitolo.

Meanwhile, Kevin Gameiro is likely to leave. Things aren’t looking better for Griezmann, who has excluded a January departure, but could end up leaving next season if the club doesn’t live up to his expectations.
