Aubameyang to Arsenal: AC Milan left to rue missed opportunity

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Arsenal reportedly nearing completion, AC Milan could be left to rue another opportunity they missed during last summer’s transfer market.

It was no secret the Rossoneri wanted to sign the Borussia Dortmund star, just as it was quite obvious the Gabonese centre-forward wanted to return to the club where it all started for him.

It was clear all summer long that Vincenzo Montella’s side lacked a true number 9 who would guarantee goals as long as adequate service was provided to him. In the end, technical director Massimiliano Mirabelli opted to sign André Silva and Nikola Kalinić, both of whom have failed to live up to expectations and could indeed be set to leave Milan before long.

Considering how much he spent over the course of last summer, Mirabelli would have been much better off investing in a man of Aubameyang’s quality, rather than speculating on several players.
