Barca, Tottenham, Man City form a titanic trio in Europe

The Champions League knockout rounds are starting to take shape, and it’s looking to be a thrilling ride. With just one group stage matchday remaining, four teams have already clinched the top spot in their group, while another four have booked their tickets to the Round of 16. Eight spots remain, which will shape a tense final group stage matchday in two weeks.

Manchester City has been the most dominant team in the early going, as they’ve secured 15 points to wrap up Group F. Currently, Shakhtar Donetsk sits a surprising second with nine, while Serie A leading Napoli is third with only six. A point against Man City will ensure Shakhtar’s place, while Napoli will need to beat Feyenoord, and hope Man City defeats Shakhtar.

Tottenham, which is in fine form across all competitions, have emerged as the top in Group H, as Real Madrid will take second. Borussia Dortmund, however, still risks being sent home from Europe altogether as they are tied on points with tiny APOEL.

Barcelona has secured their spot at the top of Group D, as Juventus is poised to take second place. With Sporting CP traveling to Barcelona, needing a victory, and Juventus facing lowly Olympiacos, needing simply a draw, it appears the Bianconeri will avoid a potential upset.

We’ll have more on the other clubs who’ve clinched their spots later today.
