Barcelona chiefs head to London to close out a deal with Liverpool for Coutinho

Spanish daily newspaper Sport claims that Barcelona chiefs have headed to London to meet their Liverpool counterparts to discuss a possible move for Philippe Coutinho. The 25-year-old has been a long-term target for the Catalan giants who have stepped up their interest in the Brazilian international over the past week.

Liverpool are adamant that the player will remain at Anfield this season having committed himself to a new deal in January which will take him through to 2022. The journal states that the Merseyside club have slapped a £89.5M price-tag on their star man with reports suggesting Barcelona are confident they can secure his signature for around £72M.

It’s also understood that Barca chiefs are desperate to get their hands on Coutinho to appease the situation with his international team-mate and friend Neymar; the Brazilian superstar has been trying to encourage his buddy to join him in Catalonia next term.

Sport also states that French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also interested but that Coutinho himself has his heart set on a move to the Camp Nou.
