Benitez looks to reunite with Liverpool midfielder

Rafa Benitez is looking to reunite himself with Liverpool maestro Lucas Leiva by bringing him to Newcastleaccording to the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds midfielder has been at Anfield for ten years but is now considering his options this summer. The Brazilian had been previously linked with a move to Italy, This past January, both Inter and AC Milan had been linked with welcoming his services.

It is said that Newcastle manager Benitez would be waiting with open arms for the 30-year-old.

The Brazilian midfielder, who has also been linked with a return to his previous club Gremio, is said to be looked upon by former Reds boss Benitez as a suitable choice to strengthen up the newly promoted Toon Army.

Liverpool will request a sum of £4m in exchange for Lucas’ services, but given the transfer budget handed to Benitez by owner Mike Ashley – which is said to be around £100m – it would be a bargain price for player that Benitez knows.
