Callejon: ‘Napoli don’t fear Man City’

Napoli face Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday night hoping for a better result than when the last time the two sides met.

The Premier League outfit claimed a 2-1 win in Manchester a fortnight ago, with Napoli’s slow start to the game proving costly.

While they eventually settled into the tie and become more of a threat as it went on, Jose Callejon has insisted that they will face Pep Guardiola’s side with no fear as they look to secure a crucial result in their bid to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition.

“We’re not afraid of anyone. We respect all teams but fear none as we know that we’re a strong side and we’ll face them with confidence that we can pick up three points.

“I don’t know if tomorrow is decisive, we have to think about the game as if it were our last, but it will definitely be important. We know we’re strong and that we can compete with them and we need to go on the pitch with that mentality.”

Ahead of the game, Napoli sit in third place in Group F, six points adrift of City who lead the way while Shakhtar Donetsk are three points ahead in second.

In turn, it will be crucial for the Partenopei to secure a positive result, but for the neutral, Callejon admits that perhaps these two sides play the best football in Europe.

“Possibly. We play very well, and so do all of Guardiola’s teams. Sarri has given us so much, we play this way because of him and the coaches and we must continue this way.”
