Chelsea agree terms with Lukaku over summer return to Stamford Bridge

According to an exclusive in the Daily Star this morning, Chelsea’s main striking target this summer remains Belgian international Romelu Lukaku. The journal claims that the 24-year-old Everton frontman has agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions on a contract said to be worth over £150,000-a-week.

The Toffees have also reaffirmed that they will hold out for the £100M asking price for their star man so the West London club will have to break the world transfer record if they want to bring him Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea patron Roman Abramovic is understood to be reluctant to pay this amount for a player who the club released to Everton for just £28M back in 2014. As negotiations continue, the Blues have been linked with a move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata despite Manchester United reportedly being in pole-position for the Spaniard.

A source close to Stamford Bridge has told the paper that; “Lukaku is still the one they want” and one of the clubs former players, Joe Cole also stated that he would prefer the Belgian over Morata, stating that; “I’d take Lukaku, he is like for like with Costa, but they only need one or two players and just keep the continuity going. Morata has never played in England so there is a little question mark there.”
