Chelsea midfielder keen on Manchester United switch
The Serbian, who was bought by Mourinho from Benfica in 2014, was part of Antonio Conte’s Premier League winning side last season, but now feels that the time is right to make the switch to another club, it is reported.
The 28-year-old’s representatives have remained in touch with the former Blues manager, Mourinho, and Man United are looking at a number of options as they seek to bolster their squad with a defensive midfielder.
Having already been snubbed by Tottenham Hotspur in a deal for their number one target Eric Dier, Man United do hold an interest in Matic. However it would have to be given the green light by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic, and the question remains on whether the billionaire would be willing to sell the player to a title rival and their former manager.
