Real Madrid: Zidane wants Chelsea star to be his new Makelele

Spanish portal Don Balon (via The Express) reports that Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane wants to bring Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante to the Santiago Bernabeu. The 26-year-old, who was voted PFA Player of the Year last season, has been compared with legendary Frenchman Claude Makelele and it’s understood that Zidane, who played alongside the former Real Madrid and Chelsea legend, wants Kante to be Makelele mark two.

Zidane has been tracking the player’s progress right from his time helping Leicester City to their shock Premier League title in 2016 and made a move to sign him last summer only to be thwarted by the West London side.

Real President Florentino Perez is more than aware that to prize Kante out of the clutches of Antonio Conte would be a tough task with the player at the heart of the Italian’s set-up at Stamford Bridge. Despite this, he remains at the top of Zidane’s wish-list of summer reinforcements.
