Chelsea & West Ham go head to head for ex Red Devil striker

According to reports in Mexico, both Chelsea and West Ham United have been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez. The 29-year-old former Manchester United frontman is believed to be ready to leave the Bundesliga side and has a £13M release clause written into his current deal.

The journal Publimetro claims that the two clubs from the capital are ready to match that figure and now it will be up to the player himself to decide whether to go to West or East London. Should he choose the former, the player known as “Chicharito”knows he will have to fight for his place in Antonio Conte’s side. If he prefers the London Stadium however, Hammers boss Slaven Bilic can guarantee him regular first-team action.

Hernandez is reportedly looking for a weekly salary of around £140,000 which is something that West Ham would not be able to afford. Chelsea on the other hand, have no problems meeting this figure to put the ball now firmly in the Mexican international’s court.
