De Laurentiis: ‘Insigne call-up useless, on Conte...’

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis commented Italy’s World Cup elimination on Sky Sport. “Every word is useless, Ventura is a good manager but I sacked him after three months when he was coaching Napoli in third division. Insigne? It’s useless to give him a call-up if he stays on the bench or to play him out of position. It is Tavecchio’s fault and he should resign.”

“He damaged Napoli and every other Italian club because now the players’ value is going to decrease. They didn’t qualify for the World Cup so other clubs will think they are not as strong as they actually are. Insigne must play in a 4-3-3 system, not a 4-2-4 nor a 3-5-2, he is useless with these systems.”

“Tavecchio should resign as well as [FIGC vice-president] Uva. CONI has some responsibilities as well because it should have overview the job of the Football Federation.”

“The FIGC was unable to keep Conte and Ventura was not the right person to replace him. I hope a new manager, maybe one of 35-year-old, should be hired now.”
