De Laurentiis: 'It's too bad for Tavecchio, but there were big problems...'

Here is what Aurelio De Laurentiis (Napoli president) had to say on Carlo Tavecchio's resignation in an interview with Sky Sport:

"Did you ask Tavecchio to resign? It's not like this. I had asked for the resignations of everyone since according to me, the problem was bigger than just Italy missing out on the World Cup. It's too bad for Tavecchio but some changes were needed. The Italian football federation was perhaps good for the Serie B and the Serie C but it wasn't good for the Serie A. I think that the Serie A should be tied directly with the ECA and UEFA. I think this is now an opportunity to rebuild Italian football. We have to be able to change since the world has been changing for years now...".

CARRARO A GOOD CANDIDATE - " We need the right people in place that's for sure. The mistake here is to wait for a disaster before making changes. You have to be able to evaluate things clearly and correct things before a disaster occurs. Carraro? He was already the FIGC president in the past and he has a lot of experience. He has what is needed to change this football federation. I think he would be a good choice but let's see. People want new faces but you first have to find these new people....".
