Exclusive: Juventus prefer to sign Chelsea defender over Man Utd target

Juventus’ are considering signing a new defender in the January transfer window to solve their injury crisis which has hit many of their star players, especially those of their defensive block.

A report of La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Old Lady is back in the race to sign Chelsea wantaway defender Branislav Ivanovic who has just six months left in his contract with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.

Our reporter Nicola Balice has exclusively learned that Ivanovic tops the Old Lady’s transfer wish-list as he’d be a cheaper and smarter options than Manchester United target Victor Lindelof who is available in the transfer market for € 30 million.

Ivanovic is not only a cheaper option than the 22-year-old centre-back, but can also play in the Champions League and is a more versatile player than his Swedish counterpart given that he can play as both centre-back and right-back.

Juventus’ January transfer priority, however, remains a new centre midfielder and the Serie A giants are considering whether to invest some of their budget on a new defender in the winter transfer window. In case the Serie A giants decide to do so, they’d prefer to sign the unhappy Chelsea defender over the target of Manchester United.
