Exclusive: Despite report, Milan denies interest in Paraguayan midfielder

Despite rumors from the United States, AC Milan is not interested in acquiring Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron.

The Argentinian MLS star first gained notoriety in Milan when Javier Zanetti saw him play in South America and alerted scouts from Inter Milan. However, after looking into the player, Nerazzurri executives decided his style of play did not match that of the club’s, and have abandoned any attempts to bring him to Italy.

As far as AC Milan is concerned, Almiron has never crossed their plate. When presented with his name, a source with direct knowledge denied the club has scouted the young playmaker. Upon doing more research, the source cited Hakan Calhanoglu, Suso, and Giacomo Bonaventura as players who already fill the role Almiron would play.

Additionally, after a summer spending spree of ~€220 million, AC Milan is at the center of an ever-deepening financial saga. The likeliness they’d be willing to spend another €15 million, as per the report, on an unproven player is doubtful.
