EXCLUSIVE Romano: Juve's plan for Gundogan

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan remains one of the main targets for Juventus. It seems almost impossibleto obtain the 25-year-old during the current transfer window, but in football never say never.

Between Christmas and the first days of January, the bianconeri have made many attempts for the Germany international, but they all failed. Borussia have no intention to let him go now. “Gundogan is for us what is Marchisio for you, he leaves only for a crazy offer”, the German club’s executives told their Juve counterparts. Thomas Tuchel counts on Gundogan and Borussia won’t let the player leave. Never say never, of course, but for the moment nothing is moving. In June, it will be a different story.

Juve’s strategy is clear: they want to find an agreement with Gundogan as soon as possible. The player has already agreed to a transfer. And the Serie A defending champions know that he will probably leave Borussia at the end of the season, as he is tired of not playing the Champions League. Gundogan is also tracked by some English clubs, but an experience in the Serie A attacts him. Of course, Juve will have to offer him an important deal. Then, the Piedmont’s club will count on the fact that his contract with the Scwarzgelben will expire in 2017, and on the German club’s fear to loose the player as a free agent.
