Fabrizio Romano: Motta to quit PSG in summer, will snub Italy for China

It appears that PSG stalwart Thiago Motta is headed for China, if agent Dario Canovi has anything to say about it.

Excluding a return to Italy, Canovi
exclusively told CM that Roberto Mancini wanted the Italo-Brazilian “at all costs” last summer, but that PSG held onto him.

“[His departure] is confirmed, the decision has pretty much been made,” he told our correspondent Fabrizio Romano, “He won’t renew his deal”.

Asked about the chance of returning to Italy - where he played for both Genoa and Inter -  Canovi was adamant: “No, I don’t believe there are any. It’s not a realistic scenario at present, even though it’s actually my son Alessandro who is taking care of this.

“I think he could move to somewhere where he is offered a big salary, like China”.

It also appears that Motta was close to returning to Inter Milan a year ago, with Roberto Mancini particularly enthusiastic.

“Roberto wanted him at all costs. Their offer had been made, but PSG absolutely wouldn’t part with him, believing Thiago to be key to the team’s balance”.

“Write it down: Motta will be a great Coach. He’s had some key teachers, he sees football in that way, and is fascinated by that world”.
