Fail of the Day: Juve misspell Szczesny's surname

Wojciech Szczesny’s adventure at Juventus hasn’t begun well. Farcically, in fact.

On his first appearance in a friendly with the Old Lady, the Polish goalkeeper appeared wearing the Number 23 jersey… which was misspelt.

Instead of ‘Szczesny’ (one we’ve all had to learn to spell over the years), the former Arsenal man (who moved for £10m, or €11.3 million recently) had his surname spelt ‘Szczesney’.

The 27-year-old is expected to be Gianluigi Buffon’s long-term replacement, having valiantly played between the sticks at Roma over the last two seasons, with good results.

This doesn’t seem fair on a man who found leaving Arsenal very difficult, and who was very honoured to join the Turinese side.

When asked what it felt like to leave the Emirates stadium, he paused, nearly coming to tears.
"This is a difficult question to answer", Szczesny said after suppressing emotion.

“You don’t choose Juventus, Juventus got to choose you. I had a very good time in Roma, I had an amazing time there and I think all the people I met there. I had no doubts to join Juventus when they called me.”
