Inter midfielder plays down exit rumours

Felipe Melo has played down rumours linking him with a January departure from Inter. Talking to UOL Esporte, the Brazilian midfielder has denied that he’ll be leaving Inter in the incoming transfer window.

“I’ve read reports claiming that I’ve asked big money to join Flamengo, but that’s not true, they haven’t made contact with me at all. We were in talks in the past, but there is nothing now, I’m happy at Inter.

Melo, 33, played 21 minutes in Inter’s 4-2 win over Fiorentina yesterday night but has only managed seven appearances (275 minutes in total) so far this season.

“I respect Sao Paulo fans a lot and not from today”, Melo has also told UOL Esporte.

“It’s a big honour for me to be linked with moves to these two big clubs, but at the moment there are no concrete offers. I still have 18 months left in my contract with Inter.”
