Future of Chelsea stars up in the air amid Real Madrid links

Chelsea are sweating over the future of their stars Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard. Both Belgium stars are being linked with a summer move to Real Madrid and the Blues fear that their goalkeeper and their star winger could force a move to the Bernabeu in the summer.

According to Marca, Courtois has put new contract talks on hold. “Although he is happy in England and at Stamford Bridge, proud to play for a team who took a chance on him when he was just a youngster, he believes that at this point in his career, his time in the Premier League may be coming to an end”, the Spanish paper writes.

The contract of Courtois expires in 2019 and he has yet to agree terms to a new Chelsea contract because he is waiting for a call from Madrid where he has already played wearing the shirt of Atletico Madrid.

Meantime, Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur states Courtois’ teammate and compatriot Hazard could also be off to Real Madrid in the summer even if he signs a new contract with the Merengues.

“He’s very happy in London, in Cobham. He doesn’t like the limelight."

“His kids speak better English than him so that’s important to him, to his family life. That will play an important role too if he ever moves to Real Madrid”, Terreur said.
