Gabigol flops at Benfica - Return to Inter in January?

Gabriel Barbosa has hardly had a great start at Portuguese Champions Benfica since joining the club on loan this past summer from Inter.

The player, nicknamed, Gabigol in Brazil for his goalscoring exploits with Santos, has only featured 4 times in the league for Benfica, accumulating 13 minutes in the Portuguese league. This is hardly what the player, Inter or Benfica expected when loaning the player this past summer in a deal that included a clause which could make the transfer permanent set at €25 million.

According to A Jogo, Benfica want to send the former Santos player who Inter signed for €30 million 2 summers ago, back to the Nerazzurri but that is hardly going to go down well with Inter given the agreement reached between the parties. What is more likely is that Inter and Benfica will look to find a third club to loan the player out to in order for him to restart his career.

The most likely outcome could be that the player returns to his native Brazil where he burst out on to the scene a few years ago being touted as Neymar's heir.
