Here's what Napoli's Sarri had to say about Ventura, Insigne, Italy

Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri took the rare opportunity to speak to Mediaset following his side’s impressive 2-1 victory over AC Milan. It’s not often he speak before or after matches, but, in addition to the match, he spoke open and honestly about the Italian national team and sacked manager Giampiero Ventura.

Speaking of his star forward Lorenzo Insigne’s exclusion from Ventura’s plans, Sarri said he understands why the manager made his decision. “I would not leave Insigne out, but each coach is the result of his experiences and Ventura always played with two up front.”

Sarri said Ventura's system did not have an obvious place for wide forward Insigne, who had been used in central midfield when he came off the bench in Italy's decisive 1-0 first leg loss to Sweden.

He continued, “I did not like the way the media tore Ventura apart, because when there is a loss like that, the blame is to be shared around, never just apportioned to one man."
