Hernanes set for Juventus stay as Witsel’s arrival postponed

Juventus midfielder Hernanes has reached an agreement to join Genoa in January. The Brazilian playmaker was on the verge of moving to the Marassi outfit last summer but Witsel’s collapsed Juventus move made his transfer to Genoa fall apart as well.

Despite the Brazilian’s agreement with Genoa, Hernanes is set to stay at the J Stadium until the end of the season as Axel Witsel is not likely to join the bianconeri in the January transfer window. Despite reports claiming that the Belgium International is set to move to Juventus in one month time, the Old Lady has yet to find economic agreement with Zenit over the Belgian’s transfer.

Juventus are only open to offer € 6 million as Witsel’s Zenit contract expires in 2017 and the 27-year-old is destined to join the Serie A giants as a free agent at the end of the season.

Hernanes’ departure is also blocked by Kwadwo Asamoah and Mario Lemina who are going to play the African cup of nations in January with Ghana and Gabon respectively, leaving Max Allegri short of options in midfield.
