HOW transfer ban for Real Madrid could affect Juventus’ transfer strategy

FIFA have banned Real and Atletico Madrid from registering new signings for one year.

This means that the next 16 days are the last ones that both sides can use to sign new players until 2017, though the Madrid clubs will probably appeal their transfer ban.

With Alvaro Morata and Paul Pogba who are long-term targets of the Santiago Bernabeu side, let’s try to find out how the transfer ban imposed on Real Madrid may affect Juventus’ transfer strategy.

Los Blancos can bring Alvaro Morata back to the Santiago Bernabeu for a fee of € 30 million from next summer, but if the ban will be confirmed, Florentino Perez will be prevented from re-buying the product of Real Madrid’s Cantera until the 2017 summer.

As calciomercato.com’s Serie A pundit Nicola Balice points out, the agreement between the two sides does not allow Real Madrid to exercise the buy-out clause in January window. In turn, if Real want Morata to join them before the ban is effective, they’ll have to start negotiations with Juventus during the next couple of weeks.

Juventus, by the way, are not willing to sell the Spaniard, whose price-tag is now much more expensive than just € 30 million.

As far as Paul Pogba is concerned, Real Madrid are one of the few clubs in the world that can afford buying the most-wanted midfielder, alongside Barcelona and Manchester City.

The 10-times Champions League winners were reportedly pondering a player-plus-cash deal involving the likes of Isco, Toni Kross or Alvaro Morata himself, to secure the Frenchman’s services next summer.

However, the ban imposed by FIFA may oblige Real Madrid to anticipate and change a bit their transfer strategy. According to Balice, Florentino Perez could offer big money to sign Pogba in January window.

The Bianconeri side are not eager to sell the 22-year-old, even if they could consider the sale of their star midfielder for a crazy offer worth more than € 100 million.
