Inter and Arsenal to go head to head for €25 Serie A flop in January

Inter and Arsenal are looking for defence reinforcement and according to Il Mattino, Napoli defender Nikola Maksmimovic is being monitored by both European giants.

Maksimovic joined Napoli for a stunning € 28 million fee in summer 2016 but the Serbia International failed to live up to expectations at the San Paolo having only played 14 games since.

Napoli have already some very reliable defenders in their roster and Maksimovic is free to leave the club for the right offer in the winter transfer window.

According to the Naples-based paper both Inter and Arsenal could make an offer from the 25-year-old in January.

Inter wanted to sign Arsenal defender Skordan Mustafi in the summer but the Serie A giants failed to reach an agreement with the Gunners.

Now both clubs could be trying to sign Maksimovic in the winter transfer window. Maksimovic can play in a four-man defence although his favourite system is one that provides three defenders at the back.
