Inter continue search for vice-Icardi

While Inter’s short-term objective remains to qualify for next season’s Champions League, the club hierarchy has already begun planning for the future in terms of new signings and shaping the squad to Luciano Spalletti’s liking. One of Piero Ausilio and Walter Sabatini’s main objectives is to relieve some of the pressure on Mauro Icardi’s shoulders, and look for players who can also chip in with goals regularly.

The Nerazzurri captain will of course remain the team’s reference point and Tuttosport claim, for this reason, the idea is to sign an alternative who will not arrive under the impression that they’ll be first choice. That said, Ausilio and his colleagues are well aware that Éder doesn’t score enough goals despite playing in an advanced position.

The Turin-based newspaper reports that Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sébastien Haller is under consideration, having scored 5 goals in 11 Bundesliga matches since his €7 million summer switch from Utrecht. He has been on Inter’s radar for some time now.

Another potential option could be that of Everton forward Sandro Ramírez, who joined the Toffees from Málaga for €7 million after a very successful 2016/17 campaign in La Liga. He has so far struggled to adapt to the Premier League however, and could be available next summer for a cut-price fee.
