Italy, Tavecchio takes time: 'Meeting tomorrow'

Italian FA President Carlo Tavecchio talked to Italian press agency Ansa for the first time after the azzurri elimination from the World Cup play-offs.

“We are very disappointed, we must solve this that’s why I’ve scheduled a meeting tomorrow to decide the next steps to be taken.”

According to Sky Sport, Italy boss Giampiero Ventura won’t attend tomorrow’s meeting. The Italian boss extended his contract with the azzurri a few months ago but there is a clause in the manager’s contract that allows the Italian FA to sack him in case of failed World Cup elimination.

Tavecchio has already left Milan but Ventura should be still inside a hotel close to the central station. A few reporters are waiting for him to leave the hotel and talk to them but it is hard to think that Ventura will release any interview today. Meantime the bosses of Italian football have taken one more day to think about the catastrophe they have caused.
