Juve-Roma meet over Man Utd defensive target

Juventus are searching for a successor to the departed Leonardo Bonucci and according to the Italian press this morning, the player that has been identified is Roma centre-half Kostas Manolas. The 26-year-old Greek international still has three years left on his contract in the Italian capital but Roma chiefs are ready to listen to offers for the player who looked to be on his way to Zenit St Petersburg at the beginning of last week.

Having rejected the Russian side’s offer at the last minute, Manolas has returned to pre-season training with the Giallorossi but after his defensive partner Antonio Rudiger left for Chelsea, he too could now be heading for the exit.

La Repubblica (via Calciomercato.com) claims that Bianconeri chiefs actually met with their Roma counterparts last Wednesday and were told that they could take the player for €40M. Premier League giants Manchester United are also understood to be keen on the player and so are Inter, who are now coached by former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti.
