Juventus anxious over midfielder's latest injury

Miralem Pjanic is set to miss Juventus’ 120th anniversary celebration match against Benevento on Sunday. The Bosnian international is sidelined with a strained right thigh muscle. More importantly than the match, however, are the concerns over his health for the remainder of the season.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri ruled Pjanic out of training for at least a week before he can be reevaluated during the international break. “He has a problem with the muscle,” according to the tactician. “He will do a week of recovery and we will see after the international break what his condition will be.”

Juventus remains anxious because it is the second time the former-Roma midfielder has had an issue with his right thigh this season. Pjanic had already injured the quadriceps in the same thigh during the warm-up before the Champions League match against the Olympiacos in September. That injury caused him to miss three matches.

It’s unclear, at this time, how much more, if any, of Juventus’ schedule Pjanic will miss. The best case scenario has him back after the International break for the November 19th clash against Sampdoria. At the very least, the Bianconeri hope to have him back in time for their Barcelona matchup.
