Juventus, Pjanic: ‘here’s why I left Roma’

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has released an interview with La Repubblica ahead of the week-end’s Serie A action.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina International has been asked why he decided to leave AS Roma last summer.
“They made many promises and I always kept my word with them signing contract extensions. They always said they’d have build a competitive team for the Serie A title, but we won nothing in five years. I am 26, the career doesn’t last forever and Juventus had been tracking me for years. I talked about it with Spalletti, Totti and De Rossi. Francesco [Totti] told me he was sad and that he’d have preferred me to stay, but he understood I had to take the path I wanted.”

“I love Roma and the city, but it was time to go. The only side I couldn’t play for because I’ve already played for Rome’s only good team.”

“When I became aware that Juventus wanted me, I said yes straight away. It was the same when I move to Roma and Luis Enrique and Sabatini wanted to show me how much they believed in me.”

“Before each game we used to play against, Chiellini was telling me: ‘I’ll try not to hit you today’. But no way, he always did. It’s better to have him as a teammate.”
