It won't be like any other game for Montella, whose job has come under massive scrutiny due to the bad run of form. And a bad result in the game against Sassuolo could mean a possible sacking for Montella.
Montella was talking to reports ahead of the game against Sassuolo and he was vocal about fighting for his job and the club. He told reporters: 'I'm not tired, I'm a fighter. I think of working for Milan with my staff. Football moves quickly from the stars to the stables, but the reverse path can be traced quickly. I'm sorry for those near me who suffers for that.”
On being asked about the possible solutions to come out of the bad times, Montella told: “The team must play in a carefree manner, this makes you showcase the qualities that are prominent.”
The former Fiorentina boss also talked about the mentality of the players he currently has at his disposal and whether they have a negative mentality currently. Montella said: “I disagree, the team is battling. With ten men against Genoa, we weren’t negative, also in the performance against Juventus. Surely we must do more, but no one gave up the other night.”
