Liverpool ready to clinch 60 million deal for Dutch defender

Liverpool are ready to pay Southampton £60M for Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk according to latest reports. The 26-year-old, who has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s priority summer targets, has been the subject of huge speculation which has caused the two clubs to fall out in dramatic circumstances.

The Saints reported Liverpool for making an illegal approach for their star player which in turn, led to the Merseyside club issuing an apology stating that they would end their interest in the player. That was not the end of the story however, van Dijk himself has his heart set on a move to Anfield and in an exclusive today, The Sun states that the player may even consider handing in a transfer request to ensure he gets his way.

Klopp is looking to make a huge impression on the transfer market this summer and the German tactician must have feared that he had lost the chance to sign the big Dutchman. Premier League rivals Chelsea have also made enquiries but van Dijk only has eyes for Liverpool and the saga of the summer looks set to continue.
