Liverpool's Coutinho hands Barcelona transfer blow

FC Barcelona have not given up on their plans to land Liverpool's Brazilian international forward Philippe Coutinho for when the transfer window opens in January.

However, the Blaugrana's ambitions may have been dealt a serious blow following statements made by the player after the friendly fixture against England at Wembley where he stated that "I continue to grow at Liverpool, year by year I feel I am getting better and I have not stopped yet."

This past summer Barcelona were very aggressive in their efforts to sign the former Inter and Vasco Da Gama player having hoped to replace the departed Neymar with Coutinho, but Jürgen Klopp held on to his player firmly and the transfer never materialized.

The 25 year old signed for Liverpool in January 2013 for reportedly £8,5 million from Inter where he had struggled to find a place in the first team but Coutinho has developed into a world class player since making the switch to Anfield. The Brazilian international has featured 190 times scoring 46 goals across all competitions.
