Man United think Spurs midfielder has heart set on Old Trafford already

Manchester United believe that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has his heart set on a move to the North West side, and will come up with a second bid, after their first one was rejected by last season’s Premier League runners-up. This is according to The Independent.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho spoke with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward last week and told him to either bring Nemanja Matic or the England international Dier to Old Trafford for next season – the former, though, has been put on hold as Chelsea are unwilling to sell to the side at the moment, following a sour relationship from Man United’s hijacked purchase of Blues man Romelu Lukaku.

The Reds had a bid £25m turned down for Dier, it is thought, and now look to almost double that figure with a major deal for the defensive-midfielder. Spurs are claiming that the 23-year-old is not for sale at any price but Man United have enough pulling power to get the deal done, especially with Dier leaning towards a preferred move to Manchester.
