Manchester United back in for Matic as Juventus baulk at Chelsea's price-tag

Manchester United could be back in the race for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic. According to latest reports from Italy, Juventus, who looked close to grabbing his signature earlier this week, have been put off by the Premier League champions’ asking price for the 28-year-old Serbian international.

Italian sports journal Corriere dello Sport explains that the Bianconeri are not willing to part with the €45M (£40M) that the Blues are asking for the player which could open the door for the Red Devils once again.

United boss Jose Mourinho had Matic under his wing during his second spell at Stamford Bridge and recent reports suggested that a fee had been agreed with Chelsea as well as personal terms with the player. After the arrival of striker Romelu Lukaku however, Mourinho’s interest wavered allowing Juve to nip in to try to complete a deal.

Matic’s agent has met with Bianconeri sporting director Fabio Paratici this week but it seems as though Chelsea will have to compromise on the price before any business can be concluded.
