Nantes president: It's normal for Ranieri to want to Coach Italy

Nantes president Waldemar Kita has been very understanding of Claudio Ranieri’s links to Italy.

The Tinkerman refused to rule himself out of the role, saying that “I would have to think about it, but it doesn't only depend on me, as I have a contract with Nantes and a president who I would have to talk to," he said to Sky Italia.

The former Premier League Champion with Leicester City has been doing very well in Ligue 1 this season, leading the Canaris to fifth place, despite a 4-1 humbling at PSG this weekend.

Yet Polish-born businessman Kita was rather diplomatic over Ranieri’s recent comments about the Azzurri bench, which has been vacated since Gian Piero Ventura was sacked last week after failing to qualify for World Cup 2018.

“It’s completely different. He [Ranieri] answered pretty logically. He’s intelligent, Italian at heart, a very classy Coach and it’s normal that he asks himself questions if the offer to Coach the national team is made to him at this stage of his career.

Yet Kita also stated that the Azzurri’s courtship was not a problem: “For the moment, this is not an issue.”
