Napoli, Gabbiadini: a club fine and put on the transfer market in January

A red card in Crotone yesterday, a club fine and a possible move in January; it’s been a torrid few weeks for Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini culminating in yesterday’s petulance that saw him sent-off before the break in his sides 1-2 win at Crotone. His coach, Maurizio Sarri defended his actions afterwards stating that; “He does not want to be the centre of attention he is quite introvert and all this focus does not make him feel good. He needs to be convinced that he is strong but he has failed to cope with the extra pressure”.

    TRANSFER MARKET:
La Gazzetta dello Sport writes this morning that Napoli, having refused €30 million for the 24-year-old in the summer, will not make the same mistake twice. President De Laurentiis, the pink journal reports, will give in to market pressures and put his player up for sale in January if the right offer comes along. Gabbiadini extended his contract at the club until 2021 in September but it’s believed that with the fee collected from any potential sale, the vesuviani will look to find a replacement for the injured Arek Milik.
