Napoli want to nab Arsenal goalkeeper from under rivals' noses

Napoli are set to enter the race for Wojciech Szczesny, the local press reports.

Il Mattino write that the Partenopei are going to enter negotiations with Arsenal this season to secure one of Serie A’s best goalkeepers.

The Polish international’s season has been a sensational one, the second from the Gunners to AS Roma. Problem is, the two sides are struggling to reach an agreement, while Arsenal seem happy with Petr Cech in between the sticks.

Napoli, for their part, are unhappy with Pepe Reina, loved by everyone (especially the fans) but error-prone and on what is a clear downward spiral.

Szczesny only has a year left on his Arsenal deal, and will be the subject of negotiations that will take place next month.

Agent Claudio Vigorelli is, in fact, quoted as working 'very hard' to bring the 27-year-old to the San Paolo.

He has made 33 Serie A appearances all season, but the Giallorossi have other options ready to step in: Alisson was signed from Internacional last season and is Brazili's No.1, while Lukasz Skorupski has had a sensational season on loan at Empoli.
