New deal for Wenger but Arsenal has already lined up his successor

After months of speculation, Arsenal will announce today that boss Arsene Wenger is staying at the club for another two years. The Frenchman however, has been given the task of identifying his successor and in an exclusive in the Daily Star, one man is already in pole-position.

The man in question is current Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe who has expertly guided the south-coast club to a ninth place finish in the Premier League this season. Arsenal would like Wenger to groom his potential replacement similar to how Sir Alex Ferguson did with David Moyes at Manchester United.

There could be another twist in the tale however, with reports suggesting that Wenger will push to have this latest deal extended to five years instead if two despite the club wanting their long serving coach to move into more of a directorial role at the end of this two-year agreement.

There could also be some major changes to his backroom staff this summer with a new fitness coach and goalkeeping coach expected to arrive in North London.
