Pepe considers Chelsea switch as new Real Madrid contract talks stall

Today’s edition of the Daily Mirror reports that Real Madrid centre-back Pepe is considering a move to Chelsea as the Portuguese defender has yet to find agreement with the Merengues over a contract extension.

Pepe’s contract runs until June 2017 and the Portuguese defender has reportedly asked for a new two-year deal whilst Real Madrid are only open to offer the 33-year-old a one year contract extension.

If Pepe fails to find agreement with his club by January 2017, than he’d be free to negotiate a free move to any other club which would be completed in July 2017.

Pepe, a Portuguese International, has 321 games with Real Madrid. He has won two Champions League and two La Liga titles with the Merengues and is also a European Championship winner with Portugal national team.

Chelsea boss Conte is desperate to add a new centre-back to Chelsea’s squad and is also believed to be considering a £ 50 million bid for AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli in the January window.
