Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic made their triumphant returns to Old Trafford after each missed significant time with serious injuries. Their match against Newcastle quickly became a stadium-wide party as Pogba returned a hero.

The Frenchman started, and went a full 90 minutes after missing more than two months with a thigh injury. He’s presence was immediately felt when he lifted a 37th minute cross that found Anthony Martial’s head before hitting the back of Newcastle’s net.

He wasn’t done, either. Not content with just an assist after a two month layoff, Pogba deposited his own in the 54th minute, which gave Manchester a 3-1 advantage, after originally falling behind early.

Zlatan made his first appearance since tearing his ACL last season when he subbed on for Martial in the 77th minute. He largely stayed around center pitch, advancing into the final third a limited number of times.

Their return, plus that of Marcos Rojo, provided an immeasurable boost for one of the Premier League’s premier clubs.
