Promising striker hints at Real Madrid return

Former Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz, who left the Los Merengues this past summer to join Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon, refuses to rule out a return to the club in an interview with Spanish media outlet Marca.

"Real Madrid are such a big club that I would never close the door to the idea of a return. But I always say that I have a five-year contract with Lyon, which I just started. People tell me that I could have been Real Madrid's second striker this year, but I always say the same thing, that I am happy where I am."

Mariano spent most of his tenure at Real Madrid C and Real Madrid Castilla team's but last season he featured 14 times for the first team scoring 5 goals across all competitions. 

Mariano joined Ligue 1 side Lyon this past summer for a reported €8 million after Real Madrid team-mate and former Lyon striker Karim Benzema had called the Lyon President to recommend the Spanish striker. So far this season Marano Diaz has scored 9 goals in 15 matches across all comeptitions for his new club.
