Here's why Sergio Ramos will miss Real Madrid's Champions League match

Real Madrid traveled to Cyprus in advance of their Champions League clash against APOEL tomorrow. However, they’ll have to face the without their captain and defensive leader, Sergio Ramos.

The Spaniard did not travel with the club after suffering a broken nose in their last match against their city rivals, Atletico Madrid, this past weekend. The defender’s injury was caused by Stefan Savic in the 34th minute of the underwhelming 0-0 draw.

While Ramos remained on the pitch for the remainder of the first half, sporting two cotton swabs in his nose to stem the bleeding, he did come out at the break as Nacho replaced him.

The injury is not considered serious, and Mundo Deportivo reports that his absence from the squad tomorrow is ‘precautionary.’ However, Real Madrid is in the middle of an injury crisis as Ramos joins a growing list, which includes Keylor Navas, Gareth Bale, Mateo Kovacic, and Luca Zidane, of injured stars.
