Revealed: The players Barca watched during Chelsea - Man Utd

It wasn’t just fans who were interested in the Chelsea – Manchester United match this past weekend. Barcelona’s scout Robert Fernandez was on hand at Stamford Bridge to get a first-hand account of three Blaugrana targets.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Eric Bailly, as well as Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso are the focus of intense interest from the Catalan capital.

In Bailly, Barcelona see a potential replacement for Vermaelen and Mascherano, who will almost certainly be gone next season. Valverde is keen to have Marcos Alonso step in to reinforce Jordi Alba’s position on the wing, as age begins to take its toll.

Rashford has been on Barca’s radar for some time. They are incredibly positive about his future projections, and want to see if he’s worth the heavy investment that will be required to move him from Old Trafford.

It’s unclear if, and/or when, Barcelona would seek to secure any of those transfers. If they do want those players, it will probably have to wait until the summer of 2018.
