Serie A giants Roma reportedly monitoring out-of-favor Barcelona winger Aleix Vidal, who hasn’t featured much since joining.

It is believed that Monchi has identified Vidal as a target and has already held talks with Ernesto Valverde for the player’s acquisition. Monchi knows the player well from their days at Sevilla and feels that he is the perfect player for Roma’s right-wing.

Roma would look to initially sign him on loan in January, with an option of making the deal permanent in the summer.

Barcelona will look to recover the 18 million euros that they spent on Vidal when they signed him from Sevilla two years ago and Roma may be willing to be pay the amount. It isn’t just the giallorossi who are interested though, as Sevilla too are said to be monitoring their former player’s situation.

This season, Vidal has made only five La Liga appearances due to an ankle that injury that derailed his progress. He has racked up a tally of two assists as well.
