Roma: Two more go down injured, officially cursed heading to Chelsea

You’re not going to believe this, but two more Roma players went down injured yesterday’s match. In their 1-0 defeat both Gregoire Defrel and Bruno Peres had to exit with lower-body injuries, and are now in doubt for their clash against Chelsea on Tuesday.

In the 59th minute, Defrel went down with an ankle injury. He was replaced by Diego Perotti, whom manager Eusebio Di Francesco had hoped to rest prior to their Champions League clash. The Frenchman, who has endured a rough start to his career at Stadio Olimpico, and has drawn ire from many fans, sat on the bench, ice around his ankle, and looked completely dejected.

Bruno Peres was substituted out only 10 minutes later with an unknown right leg injury, which appears to be muscular in nature. Hector Moreno replaced him for the remained of the match.

For the Brazilian, the injury comes at an especially frustrating time. After struggling mightily in his debut season last year, his struggles continued this season and his playing opportunities appeared to be decreasing with the return of Rick Karsdorp. However, the Dutchman tore his ACL in his return and is out a minimum of four months, which opened a spot for Bruno Peres.

Further tests will be conducted today, and we should learn whether they will make squad against Chelsea.
